Last week, we had the pleasure of dining at the new Metro Diner location in Trussville, AL. Our meal was provided to us in exchange for my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.
Metro Diner Now Open in Trussville
Located just a few minutes northeast of Birmingham proper, Trussville, Alabama is exploding with growth. Every time I visit the area, I’m amazed at all of the new businesses that keep popping up. One of these new businesses is one of our favorite restaurants, Metro Diner.
The Origins of Metro Diner
According to their website, the original Metro Diner began in 1938 in Jacksonville, Florida, and was revived as we know it today in 1992. I first heard of Metro Diner when they were featured on the Guy Fieri show “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.”
Featuring innovative recipes and new takes on classic favorites, Metro Diner is the place to go when you’re looking for a hearty meal with a home cooked feel.
Location and Hours
Trussville’s Metro Diner is located on Gadsden Highway, and it’s only a few miles off of the interstate. If you’re a local, go past the Trussville mall area, and keep going for about another mile. You’ll see it on your right across from the shopping center with HomeGoods.
The hours of operation are 7am-9pm Monday-Saturday and 7am-8pm on Sunday. This should give you plenty of time to check out their entire menu as they serve breakfast all day as well as lunch items and dinner entrees that are available after 3pm.
What to Expect at Metro Diner
Is it a fancy restaurant? Do you need reservations? What about a kid’s menu? I love the look and feel of Metro Diner’s restaurants. Not only do you not have to dress up or have reservations, kids and families are absolutely welcome! The kids’ menu has a great selection of favorites, including breakfast items, which made my kids very happy.
Additionally, you can expect a laid back, friendly vibe at any Metro Diner you visit, but especially the Trussville location. It feels like home, and the staff likes to keep it that way. We visited during opening week, and boy was it busy! However, we never felt like we had to chase our waitress down or that service was lacking in any way.
Why You’ll Return to Metro Diner in Trussville
Finally, I bet you’re wondering why we go back to Metro Diner again and again. It’s simple, really. When you have good food, and great service, it’s easy to make a return visit. From chicken and waffles (and the delicious strawberry spread) to the meatloaf to the avocado toast (yum!), there truly is something for everyone at Metro Diner.
Yum! My boys would love this.
All of it looks sooo good!
