Summer is in full swing in our neck of the woods, and, already, the resounding chorus of “I’m bored!” has begun to echo through the halls. Yes, we do have a vacation and some other summer activities planned, but, for the most part, we’re just going to wing it. It’s my last chance to be home with my girls for more than a few hours a day, and I don’t want to get too overwhelmed running them here and there for all the camps and all the activities (we’ll have enough of that come August, I’m sure).
My girls love to make things with their hands, and what better way to expend a little energy than working with your hands, right? Today, I wanted to share with you a project that is fun and easy for little hands and might very well dispel some boredom (temporarily at least).
- Paper Plates
- Pink Crayons/Markers/Colored Pencils
- Pink Streamers/Crepe Paper
- Stapler
Create Your Jellyfish
Step 1: Let you kids go crazy with their colors! Seriously. Give them 2 paper plates each and let them go wild. You’ll want to make sure they use mostly pink because we’re really going for pink jellyfish here.Step 2: Once the coloring is done, assist them in stapling the streamers/crepe paper to one side of the paper plate.
Step 3: Staple the two paper plates together to complete your jellyfish.
Make it a Game
Take your craft one step further and make it a game! Encourage your kids to race against time or each other to escape the “tentacles” of the jellyfish without getting stung! My girls had so much fun with this part of our adventure, they were “starving” by the time I called them in for lunch.
