When is the Best Time to Visit this New Attraction?
For a truly magical experience, plan your visit to Skyland Ranch during the fall. This is when the vibrant colors of the changing leaves create a breathtaking backdrop. We visited at Christmastime, and while we loved the lights and festive atmosphere, it’s worth noting that East Tennessee can get pretty cold in the winter.
If you love cooler weather but dislike being bundled up, I’d recommend the fall or even springtime. In my opinion, you’ll get the best colors in the fall. If you’re a Christmas lights fan, then just prepare to dress warmly, as just about all of Skyland Ranch is outdoors.

To ensure a hassle-free experience, buying your tickets online is recommended. However, you can purchase them on-site at the Skyland Ranch office.
This Sevierville attraction is quite popular, so choosing not to buy tickets in advance could see your party waiting in a long line to pay for admission. The panoramic vistas of the Smoky Mountains provide a picturesque backdrop for capturing stunning photos of the natural beauty that surrounds you. This is the spot to capture those awesome family photos, especially when the sun is setting.
Feel Like Flying on the Horizon Skyride
Take a scenic ride aboard the Horizon Skyride, offering gorgeous views of Sevierville and my favorite parts of the Smokies. It is exactly like a traditional ski lift, so make sure you hold onto your belongings (and your kids)!
As you glide through the sky, take in the beauty of the Smoky Mountain views. During Christmas, look out for the festive lights beneath your feet. The Horizon Skyride is a great way to experience the ranch from a different perspective and capture stunning photographs of your adventure.
Hold on Tight to the Wild Stallion Mountain Coaster
Prepare for an adrenaline-pumping experience on the Wild Stallion mountain coaster. It’s the longest coaster ride in the area, spanning over a mile of track. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or simply looking for an exciting adventure, the Wild Stallion is sure to leave you with lasting memories of your family adventure.
This 8+ minute ride on the Wild Stallion was one of my favorite things we did at Skyland Ranch. Like other mountain coasters, I was able to control my own speed, which made it a great experience altogether. The coaster ride is a separate cost and does not require admission to Skyland Ranch.
Miniature Animals and Lil Wrangler’s Petting Corral
We all found the miniature animal encounters charming. They are perfect for young children and animal lovers of all ages. Make sure you watch your step as the animals are, well, animals (if you catch what I’m saying). The miniature animals aren’t usually up for petting, but you can pet animals at Lil Wrangler’s Petting Corral.
In addition to the petting corral, guests can take a Safari Hayride on a covered wagon pulled by a John Deere Tractor. Animals you might see include llamas, donkeys, alpacas, longhorns, highland cows, and more! There are handwashing stations to clean your hands after petting the animals too.
Fun for Kids at Buckaroo Playbarn
Buckaroo Playbarn is the perfect place for children to burn off their energy. The play area is specifically designed for young kids, with a variety of equipment available for them to enjoy. There are climbing structures, slides, and mobility equipment that can keep children occupied for hours. It’s a must-do if the adults in your group need a rest and the children need to tire themselves out a bit!
Unwinding at The Backyard at Skyland Ranch
The ultimate entertainment experience is at The Backyard, an area filled with onsite attractions, food trucks, retail purchases, and live entertainment. Take a break from the thrill of the rides and enjoy the great perks offered at The Backyard.
Whether you’re shopping for western wear at the Williford Mercantile, grabbing a bite to eat at the Skyland Cafe & Bakery, or enjoying the talented performers, The Backyard has something for everyone to enjoy, including a visit to the Tipsy Cowboy for a drink.

From March through August, a new dinner show, Chuckwagon Supper at the Ranch, includes a hearty meal and live musical entertainment. Star Spangled Summer celebrates the USA, cowboy style, and all entertainment for that event is included with your admission to the ranch.

Shopping and Dining Available
There are a variety of shops at the ranch. Williford Mercantile is a large retail store in a 5,000-square-foot barn. It is a western wear shop, a toy store, a clothing shop, and more. The barn is the place to shop for souvenirs. The General Store has a few knick-knacks near the Wild Stallion mountain coaster, but the mercantile has more selection.
When you’re hungry, the cafe and bakery are the place to be. In addition to the cafe and bakery, there are several food trucks. Buckin’ BBQ has all the barbecue you might need, The Chuck Wagon has chicken and burgers, and The Tipsy Cowboy hits the spot if you want an adult beverage.
