Walt Disney World may not be high on your radar for romance, but it probably should be. There is so much more to do than visit the theme parks. Whether you’re getting married, celebrating an anniversary or engagement, or just looking for some “adult” time, these activities will help you find romance at Disney World.
Finding Romance at Disney World
From spa experiences to private tours to dedicated dinners, Disney couples can celebrate a special occasion as they see fit. While my husband and I usually visit Walt Disney World with our kids, we have been a few times without them. There are several ways an adults-only Disney trip can have a romantic twist. These are some of the best ideas for finding romance at Disney World.
Where to Stay
Perhaps the most obvious place to start your planning, but not too often the most important, couples need to think about where they want to stay. If romance is what you’re after, consider an upgrade to the deluxe Disney accommodations like the Polynesian Village, Saratoga Springs, or the Contemporary Resort. Budget-friendly moderates have all the ambiance and are easier on the wallet.
Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside, and Coronado Springs have much to offer. If you want to start your trip off on the right foot, consider giving more thought to accommodations than the usual “just need a place to sleep” mentality.
What to Do
Is relaxation on your agenda? Consider booking an appointment at Senses spa in Disney’s Grand Floridian. Are you more of an active couple? How about a round of golf or a parasailing adventure? It’s possible to plan a vacation to Walt Disney World without ever setting foot inside the parks.
You may want to play your stay around a particular event. Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival in the spring is a different way to experience romance at Disney World. Likewise, its counterpart in the fall, the International Food & Wine Festival, is perfect for foodies and wine connoisseurs alike.
Where to Eat
Speaking of foodies, there is no better way to a spouse’s heart than through their stomach. Couples can enjoy several cuisine varieties at different locations throughout the Walt Disney World resort.
California Grill at the Contemporary has a perfect balcony view of the nighttime Magic Kingdom fireworks. For a little more of a splurge, Five-Diamond award winner Victoria & Albert in the Grand Floridian will hit the spot (further upgrade your experience by dining at the Chef’s Table right next to the kitchen!).
Make it Special
Keepsakes of special memories can make a getaway even more romantic. Disney Fine Art Photography offers several types of mini-sessions, all at reasonable prices. I often have family photos taken, but it’s rare for my husband and me to have a “just us” session.
If you don’t want to be serious, have fun with the many photo ops throughout the parks! Don’t forget to purchase Memory Maker to keep your trip’s memorable photos!
Make it Unique
A tour is a unique way to spend time with your significant other. My bucket list for tours includes animal experiences in the Animal Kingdom, the “Behind the Seeds” greenhouse tour in Epcot, and a VIP tour of the parks and attractions.
Another unique touch would be to order something special from Disney Floral & Gifts. From simple floral arrangements to total room decorating experiences, Disney Floral & Gifts has prices to fit every budget and taste.
Walt Disney World is not just for families. Couples of all ages, budgets and interests can find fun and romance. They need to know where to look.
